Professor Tom Williamson has 30 years of experience in Ophthalmology and 22 years in Vitreoretinal surgery. He was a founder of the EyeHope charity through which he hopes to support research, teaching and training in diseases of the eye. After graduating in 1984 Tom trained in ophthalmology in Glasgow, since then Tom has had many leadership roles including Ophthalmology Training Program Director in London and Director of the prestigious London Claremont Clinic. His specialist area of interest is retinal disease and surgery.

Mr Vijay Wagh manages all ophthalmic conditions and specialises in cataract, anterior segment and oculoplastics surgeries using state-of-the-art treatments. He specialises in oculoplastic surgery including tumour and reconstructive surgery, eyelid surgery including aesthetic surgery and lacrimal surgery for watery eyes. Vijay has delivered lectures at many meetings and conferences and trained more than 100 opticians and trainee eye surgeons. Vijay’s research interests include eyelid surgery, LASER cataract surgery and Keratoconus. He has several publications in scientific journals.

In 1997 Sanjeev was appointed staff nurse in the Ophthalmology Unit at Dorset County Hospital. This opened an opportunity to become a senior staff nurse at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust (GSTT) eye department, to become a Charge Nurse later. Sanjeev has a keen interest in vitreo-retinal, cataract, ocular emergencies, dry eyes, primary care, and review of patients post ocular surgeries.

Cynthia’s career in ophthalmic nursing at Moorfields Eye Hospital Accident and Emergency (A&E) department spans over twenty years. As an Advance Clinical Practitioner in A&E department, she actively takes part not only in the clinical provision and facilitation of ophthalmic care in A&E, but also in the coordination and management of its day-to-day operations with, and across the multidisciplinary team and other healthcare services. Cynthia is involved in the development of post graduate short courses at University College London institute of Ophthalmology. She also supports the teaching and training of non-ophthalmic ACP’s across London as part of the Health Education England project.

Miriam is a registered nurse who specialises in ophthalmology. She is currently employed in Moorfields Eye Hospital since 2000 and presently working as an ophthalmic emergency nurse practitioner (OENP). She is qualified to administer intravitreal injections to patients with wet age-related macular degeneration. Miriam is also one of the Nurse Prescribers in the Accident and emergency department and currently completing her MSc in advanced clinical optometry and ophthalmology in UCL, to develop and enhance clinical practice; and to contribute to the advancement of eyecare in primary, secondary, and tertiary settings.The extensive skills and knowledge in ophthalmology enables her to perform a broad range of professional advanced nursing practice by providing compassionate, holistic evaluation and management of patients with eye problems.
